STRING ORCHESTRAS

Prelude String Orchestra, Intermezzo String Orchestra, and Youth Philharmonia
Prelude String Orchestra reinforces note-reading skills and introduces ensemble playing to six through twelve-year-old students who are studying violin, viola, cello, and bass. This group will perform one concert per semester. Rick Lohmann is the conductor. Prelude meets for one hour on Monday evenings at 5:45; Pink Church Arts Center, 1516 Pacheco St.

Intermezzo String Orchestra offers challenging intermediate selections for young students (7-14) who are studying violin, viola, cello, and bass. This group will perform one concert per semester, plus one public school concert. Rick Lohmann is the conductor. Intermezzo meets for one hour and 15 minutes, Monday evenings at 7:00; Pink Church Arts Center.

Youth Philharmonia consists of students ages eight to eighteen, and requires intermediate to advanced-intermediate note reading, ensemble and playing skills. The conductor, Richard Snider, selects challenging arrangements that are both appropriate for the students and musically appealing for the audience. String Orchestra III will perform one major concert per semester, plus one public school concert. Youth Philharmonia rehearses for 1 1/2 hours on Monday evenings at 7:00; Santa Fe High School band room.

Requirements for Participation
This opportunity is open to students age 6 to 18, who are presently taking private lessons and/or participating daily in a school orchestra program. Placement auditions are required. Students will be placed in the appropriate orchestra based on their audition.

Placement auditions for continuing students will be held each April. All students will audition each year.

Tuition
Prelude — $250 per season

Intermezzo — $280 per season

Youth Philharmonia — $300 per season

Tuition is payable upon registration. Students who drop out before the third rehearsal will receive a full refund. Students who wish to apply for financial aid must pay $20.00 of the tuition upon registration and turn in the completed Financial Aid application form by September 30th.

A late fee of $25.00 will be charged for any account that is 30 days past due.
