SFYSA holds auditions in May, August, and January. May auditions are for current students. August auditions are for new students. January auditions are open to current and new students. Students who audition in January will need to re-audition in May for the next Season. Auditions are required for placement in:
Youth Symphony Orchestra
Youth Philharmonia
Intermezzo String Orchestra
Preparatory String Orchestra
Elementary Strings: Advanced Violin, Advanced Viola, and Private Lesson Program

Auditions are held at the SFYSA Offices at the Academy at Larragoite, 1604 Agua Fria

Factors that determine a student’s placement include the outcome of the audition, the orchestra in which the student is currently enrolled (if applicable), and the student’s age. Audition decisions may not be appealed, but students who audition in May or August are always welcome to re-audition in January for the new semester.
