AUDITIONS

Miles Davis and Charlie Parker Jazz Ensemble
2010-2011 Enrollment to begin in September
The SFYSA hosts two jazz ensembles. All students interested in performing in one of these jazz ensembles should contact the SFYSA office at 982-8483. Students will be asked to demonstrate their playing abilities in a casual and supportive way. Students interested in the jazz program must be presently taking private lessons and/or participate daily in their school band/orchestra program. They also need to have at least 2 years of playing experience.

Mariachi Estrella
2010-2011 Enrollment to begin in September
Mariachi Estrella has no age restriction and is open to any students who play a mariachi instrument (violin, armonia, trumpet). Students who are interested in playing in Mariachi Estrella will be asked to play a casual audition for the director. This audition can take place at any time during the course of the school year and can be scheduled by contacting the SFYSA office at 982-8483. Violinists who have completed Suzuki Violin Book 1 are often equipped to begin participation in Mariachi Estrella, but enrollment will be based on the results of the audition.

Violin Instruction

Elementary school students who are interested in learning to play the violin can enroll each fall in our Mozart y Mariachi program. See our Mozart y Mariachi page for information about enrollment in that program.
